What is a residencia (Green Card)? The residencia, also known as the Green Card, is the official certificate that registers you as a resident of Spain as an EU/EEA citizen. You need it as soon as you stay in Spain for more than three months.

Who needs a residencia? Anyone who lives in Spain for more than three months as a retiree, employee, self-employed person or student is required to register for a residencia.

Can I complete the residencia application entirely online? The preparation, yes: we collect and verify all your documents online. The appointment with the police must be attended in person in Spain; that is a legal requirement that cannot be done remotely.

What is the difference between an NIE number and a residencia? An NIE number is your personal identification number as a foreigner in Spain; you need it, for example, to buy a home or open a bank account. A residencia is proof that you are officially registered as a resident of Spain. Many people end up needing both.

What is the total cost of a residencia application? Our service costs €295. In addition, you pay a one-off €12 in official administrative fees, directly to the Spanish government.

How long does the residencia application take? On average, the entire process takes 2 to 4 weeks, from the moment you place your order until your appointment with the police.

What is the empadronamiento, and do I need it? The empadronamiento is your registration with the municipality at your Spanish address. It is a mandatory step before you can apply for the residencia. We guide you through it.

Do I have to travel to Spain for the appointment? Yes. The appointment with the police takes place in a Spanish city of your choice. We take care of all the arrangements, so all you have to do is show up.
